What types of dogs make good gaurd dogs?
Guard dogs are essentially trained dogs. All kinds of dogs can be trained to be guard dogs but some of the smaller dogs are not really effective at this as they cannot physically deter a burglar. They can however become a great sound alarm for when an intruder comes into your house unannounced. These dogs however can end up barking at every car passing or sound they don’t like. It is best to use a dog like a German Shepard. Taking Care of a Puppy that you want to become a guard dog you should s

Tips On Wildlife and Animal Photography
Animal photography is challenging because it’s difficult to get your subjects to do what you’d like them to do. Sure, a well-trained dog is more likely to sit or stay than your average hamster, but even Brownie/Blackie doesn’t follow directions as well as your average human.

A Difficult Decision
On July 30th, nearly 4 months after he went in for guide dog training, I got "the call" that Paxton had been released from guide dog training. Our local coordinator called me at work, so there I sat in front of my computer, crying and sniffling. That was the beginning of my grieving process ...

Sarah Palin and Liberal Elitist Women: Classless and Clueless
Note to liberal elitist women journalists: darling, please don’t claim to speak for me, a woman, about Sarah Palin. For the second time today I’ve read the most idiotic condescending claptrap about Sarah Palin from a liberal elitist woman who claims she “speaks” for all women. Those women should be ashamed but then again they shed shame like a snake sheds its skin. First it was Jessica Reaves of the Chicago Tribune who wrote that “McCain’s choice won’t fool women” followed by the New York T

In the Thick of It
One of my favorite things to do, during these most intense months of training, is tell non-runners the distances I’ve got slated for the weekend. Every Friday I march into my boss’s office under the ruse of “one last thing before you wrap it up for the week…” but she knows that inevitably I’m going to tell her my total miles for the week (45.5) and my weekend plan (9 tempo plus 19 mile long run). The best reaction I got this week, though, was from my 92 year-old Nana, when I told her on Saturday
